Project overview

The German School of Budapest had to expand quickly for the new school year. The solution was to redevelop an existing container building, boosting capacity and architectural quality without harming the environment. The terrace was designed to avoid nearby trees. To minimize CO2 emissions, the new structure reused the container’s original columns and used minimal concrete. Designers calculated that building with reinforced concrete would emit enough CO2 to require 101 trees 100 years to offset.

Project history

2022 september – request for an additional floor extending the existing container building.(After that they reaised that the container-constructer’s team itself can not provide the expected design.)2022 november – concept plan, and cost calculations based ont he plans.Due to the given structural capabilities, it turned out to be better to rebuild than to use reinforcements. In this case the layout was less effected by the existing situation.
