This residential project is the home of the architect, built as an extension on the roof-terrace of an existing family owned two-storey building. \r\nThe project sets out to provide an alternative model for residential development (than what is dominated by the market) that makes it economically feasible for young people to build their own home. This approach frames a sustainable way for reusing the existing building stock of the city through an additive building process. \r\nThe design strategy is based on creating transitions between the public and the private, the interior and exterior, the residence and the neighbourhood, focusing at the same time on the materiality of boundaries between them.
