Project overview

A formerly neglected, sharply contoured sloped plot at a key Zalău intersection now hosts a distinctive collective housing project with commercial ground floor. The design follows the irregular site, creating panoramic views on two sides and stepped terraces that respect neighbors while opening the building to its surroundings—city, orchards, and Meseș peaks. Each façade responds uniquely to its context: two street-facing sides converge at a vertical corner volume that anchors the intersection.

Project history

The project began when the client identified the potential of a long-overlooked, sharply contoured sloped plot at a busy Zalău intersection. Though the area lacked a clear architectural identity, its strong connection to the city and landscape offered an opportunity for a bold intervention. The client envisioned a building that could activate the site while respecting the surrounding scale and context. Through a collaborative design process, the concept evolved into a stepped collective housing structure with ground-floor commercial space, offering panoramic views and generous terraces. Since completion, it has brought new life to the neighborhood, strengthening local identity and community pride.
