Project overview

In Patissia, a 1951 corner building has been revamped with a careful addition of three floors. The design merges old and new, adding contemporary elements while honoring the original character. Setbacks and outdoor spaces maintain balance and lightness. Traditional materials blend with modern details, creating a renewal that respects the past and responds to the future.

Project history

The transformation of this 1951 corner building in Patissia started in 2019, when a private investor recognized its potential to become a contemporary, multiform residential project. The aim was to respect its architectural heritage while adding new floors and communal spaces to meet modern city living needs. Design and approvals followed in 2020, and by 2021, renovations were underway. The team preserved key elements, wooden floors, window frames, while adding flexible apartments and shared areas to foster a sense of community. Today, the project offers a mix of housing sizes alongside communal spaces, strengthening the neighborhood’s renewal and reflecting a forward-looking approach to adaptive reuse in Athens.
