Project overview

The building program defines a main house with an office. The building mass is divided into three different volumes that slide slightly on the corten wall that defines the entrance of the building. This triple distinction reflects the different functions of the building, forming three prisms that define the 2 main bedrooms on the first floor and the independent volume for the office space on the ground floor.

Project history

The architectural study refers to a new two-story residential building in a low-rise neighborhood, among trees with mountain’s view. Our purpose was to achieve the minimum building footprint, in order to maintain the most of the existing trees that has the plot, remaining reasonable high, without extended basement. The placement of the volumes allows a clear path to the back courtyard. This offers a direct connection of the green areas. Beginning before the entrance of the building, from the pedestrian street to the planted lawn towards the back courtyard, through a green area that functions as an additional work space for the office. This creates small courtyards on different levels that unify indoor and outdoor spaces and expand the everyday living and habitable space. All the design principles underline the client’s approach of living and propose a way of life connected to urban nature.
