Project overview

The clients desired a space that balanced serenity and intimacy with a strong visual identity. Introducing the concept of Origami was a means of elevating the architectural, sustainability and aesthetic value of the project. Despite the particular form of the building, the layout of the interior spaces is simple; a fundamental principle in Japanese architecture. The pleated surfaces continue, both in the landscaping and inside the spaces, resulting in an overall coherence in the project.

Project history

The design of the house draws inspiration from the Japanese philosophy of Origami, which emphasizes the creation of three-dimensional forms through the folding of flat surfaces. Influenced by the clients’ deep appreciation for the minimalist and refined aesthetics of Japanese culture, this concept became the foundation for the architectural approach. The folded geometry of the structure embodies this philosophy, guiding the sculptural form of the building. The aesthetic appeal is further elevated by the interplay of light and shadow across its folded planes, creating a dynamic visual experience that evolves throughout the day—captivating not only the inhabitants but also those who pass by. Since its completion in 2022, the house has continued to attract attention, with numerous passersby pausing to admire its unique form and expressive character—testament to the enduring impact of its design.
