Project overview

The Costești House of Culture modernization project reimagines a traditional cultural edifice as a vibrant, multifunctional community hub. The intention was to transform a mono-functional, energy-inefficient structure into a flexible, sustainable space supporting diverse activities: art exhibitions, educational workshops, concerts, and film screenings. Key programming requirements included integrating community-oriented spaces-such as dance, choir, and chess rooms-alongside a modern library.

Project history

The project began as a response to the outdated state of the Costești House of Culture, which, like many such buildings, was originally designed for limited use and lacked energy efficiency. Recognizing the building’s potential as a catalyst for community revitalization, local authorities and stakeholders initiated a comprehensive modernization plan. The timeline included an initial evaluation phase, community consultations, and the development of an architectural concept focused on multifunctionality and sustainability. The client-Costești’s local administration-sought to create a dynamic space that would serve current and future generations, supporting a wide range of cultural, educational, and social activities. Since its transformation, the House of Culture has become a lively center for community engagement, offering new opportunities for creativity, learning, and social connection.
