Project overview

The Social Services Home Nezábudka in Leopoldov is situated in a quiet residential area with detached homes, where a kindergarten and health center stand out. It introduces a senior day care center, blending with the environment. Housed in a former panel building, once a Public Security station and later a library, the structure was repurposed after the library moved. The renovation preserved its original scale, maintaining harmony with the area and honoring its historical character.

Project history

In 2024 the Nezábudka Senior Day Care Center opened in Leopoldov. With a non-repayable grant of €1.4 million from the Integrated Regional Operational Program, the city completed a comprehensive renovation of a building that originally housed the Public Security office and later a library. The architects from architekti SPDe faced the challenge of humanizing a 1970s panel building and adapting it for modern senior care. They successfully brightened the original layout, opening it up to better connect with the surroundings, including the revitalized courtyard. The clean architectural design highlights the tectonics of the original structure through various details, while introducing new dynamics with the building’s openings. This project is a valuable addition to Leopoldov’s development vision, reflecting a systematic approach to long-term planning. Projects that extend beyond a single electoral term are bringing lasting benefits to the city’s growth and quality of life.
