Project overview

Located in a traditionally built environment, Pavilion Okvir stands in deliberate contrast: a modern,
light intervention that emphasizes its natural surroundings and celebrates openness through the
architectural concept of the frame. Pavilion Okvir was conceived as a space for family gatherings and
welcoming guests. The guiding idea behind the project was to create a large, open pavilion without
any columns in the middle, resulting in a completely free-flowing interior.

Project history

Key principles of the design include no interior columns,a single long table as the social centerpiece, uninterrupted views toward the city and the horse paddocks and a frameless glass railing, allowing the view to remain open just like a picture framed only by the architecture itself. All structural support was shifted to the sides, creating a clear, rhythmic structure that visually and physically frames the space. This architectural gesture is reflected in the name “Okvir”, which alludes to the idea of a frame a spatial and visual boundary without enclosure. The roof is constructed from a hidden steel structure, clad with Fundermax panels, giving the illusion of a solid, floating mass resting on slim vertical supports. This contrast between weight and lightness further enhances the pavilion’s open and airy presence. The entire structure extends beyond a stone base wall, creating the sense that it hovers above the landscape.
