Project overview

Meteor redefines a former roundabout into a sculptural public space along Albania’s coastal corridor. Designed as a soft, land-integrated “landing,” it combines art, accessibility, and sustainability. The white-stone amphitheater requires no added furniture, merges sea views with pedestrian flow, and respects existing pines. Fully funded by the Ministry of Culture, it balances monumentality with intimacy—inviting rest, play, and reflection through minimal intervention.

Project history

Winner of the “Art in Public Space” international competition launched by Albania’s Ministry of Culture in 2022, the project began as a vision to enhance coastal identity between Durrës and Kavaja. The client sought a minimal, yet impactful intervention merging natural beauty and public use. Completed in 2023, Meteor has redefined the Golem roundabout into a cultural landmark. Its sensitive design has strengthened community pride, activated public life, and elevated the role of contemporary art in everyday Albanian landscapes.
