Project overview

Instabuilt, a Modular housing factory surrounded by quite a big living community the location although logistically strategic it seemed sensitive context wise and social wise. Instead of a single huge structure, we did split into smaller boxes, pushing toward of the center of the plot, so the vacant land around it gradually connects with the existing silhouette of the village. This adds to the philosophy of INSTABUILT – of saving time on site.

Project history

Given a program of almost 50 000 m2 footprint, in a 140 000 m2 plot, the first thing that went into our mind was a huge structure where the closest scale building surrounding it was 50 time smaller. Question like how is this building going to contextualize with the surroundings? How this project is going to impact the future of the zone? Does it bring anything good to the community, or it will just take a vast part of a land? Does it mean that this will change the destination of the area from a normal village to a industrial zone? Having raised many questions and issues, we carefully started thinking of steps that should be taken to fit this giant into the community. Always having the scale in mind, so it makes it look smaller and fitting with the surrounding. We decided to go with creamy earthy colors, with small accents of bright green, breaking the long facades into smaller parts. Every panel of the building was pre-fabricated, pre-cut and assembled on site with no cuttings.
