Project overview

House 4, on a narrow plot in Cluj-Napoca, bridges industrial and residential zones. Extended and restructured, it features a minimalist, industrial design with metal cladding and large windows that fill the interior with light. Despite its size, the home offers generous, open spaces across three levels, blending concrete, wood, and natural textures. Designed by and for architects, it maximizes space, comfort, and innovation, becoming both a family home and architectural statement.

Project history

House 4 is the personal home of an architect couple, built on a narrow 240 sqm plot in Cluj-Napoca, between residential and industrial zones. The project involved extending and adding levels to an existing structure, blending the area’s industrial memory with a contemporary, efficient design. Clad in metal with large, strategic windows, the house maximizes space and light, creating a seamless flow between interior and exterior. Inside, minimalist finishes, exposed concrete, and natural textures form a warm, modern atmosphere. The home’s design encourages family interaction and serves as a testing ground for innovative systems. Completed in 2022, House 4 has become a local architectural reference, inspiring neighbors and students alike. More than a home, it represents the couple’s vision of how architecture can be personal, functional, and rooted in place—even on a narrow lot.
