Initially a backyard pool in a villa, the client aimed to repurpose it as a public swimming space. Due to its limited size, we proposed an aquagym for water-based exercise—an underrepresented typology in Iran. Urban regulations prohibited traditional roofs and windows, so we used a semi-transparent tensile structure to provide light and privacy. The central structural column introduced cost challenges but became a defining element in our design. We organized spaces for physiotherapy, yoga, and a food kiosk around it. Mirrors and natural imagery helped visually expand the compact space. With female-only hours in mind, we created a mechanical room with independent access. Underfloor heating and ducted fan coils ensured comfort in the damp environment. Every design decision was driven by function, affordability, and user wellbeing—especially for older visitors with health issues. This small but impactful project offers a new model for accessible, dignified aquatic spaces.
