The Horizon Education Center, is a transformation of a vacant commercial space into a part-time learning center for kids of elementary schools, ages of 5-10. A colorful space, with an overall mystic layout of spaces, aiming to nurture kids’ curiosity for exploring various learning settings, that aims to contribute to their long-term development, by also strengthening their confidence in regards to exploring new territories. Main entry of the learning center leads kids to the main common area, which is a labyrinth like hallway that takes them to various classes. There are total of five classes, consisting of specific themes, aiming to set learning activities in different settings, such as TOKA meaning the earth, UJI meaning the water, GJITHËSIA meaning the space, AVENTURA meaning adventure, and ARTI meaning the arts. In addition, there is a playing corner, named ‘XHUNGLA’ the jungle, where various relaxing activities such as yoga or dart playing can take place. A special attention is paid to the kitchen and dining spaces, the large windows of which offer plentiful natural light and a close connection with the exteriors. Spaces filled with natural light, consisting of warm wood flooring and pastel color palette create joyful setting for learning, playing and relaxation. Recycled materials, modular furniture, low VOC paints, local craftsmanship further enhance the qualities of the interiors.
