For us the project was very important in terms of architecture sensibility, as it is hosted in a listed building. Therefore, there were restrictions regarding the intervention which has been a challenge working in such environment. The solution we came up with aimed in protecting the existing shell by maintaining a distance, at the same time when proposing a new aspect in hospitality motivated the proposal. The initial intention of recognizing the old in the presence of a new gesture is achieved in the outcome. The restoration of such building boosts the local economy, create jobs and stimulate tourism, though as a sustainable alternative to new construction offering also a glimpse to the past.
