The client wanted a building that would take advantage of its location and its view. The first concepts of Eden Residences were emphasizing the verticality and horizontality of the building. The concept of the design can trace its routes in the interpretation of the boundaries. In this scenario, we experimented with the idea of the physical boundary as opposed to the viewing boundary. We not only wanted to provide an unobscured view of the sea, but at the same time, we wanted the building to convey its character and ethics of design through its image. There are no physical boundaries to the view, only unavoidable boundaries to the resident’s body itself. To provide shelter. To provide comfort. But there are no boundaries to his view. His sight travels to the edges of the horizon, where sky and sea meet. The functionality of the building offers its residents a unique form of privacy, while its semi-public spaces can be utilized for entertaining and socializing purposes. Eden residences combines the forms of privacy and public into different levels of layers/spaces and offers to the community a vibrant building that goes together with the landscape of the city.
