Vladlen Babcinețchi, the sculptor who crafted the trophies for SHARE Architecture Awards

The trophies that will be awarded to the winners of the SHARE Architecture Awards in Athens on October 7-8 were created by sculptor Vladlen Babcinețchi. Each piece is individually crafted, based on the SHARE Architecture Awards logo, developed in space as a sculpture, with their uniqueness highlighted by the artist’s signature, present on each piece.

Here’s what Vladlen, a monumental sculptor with a special passion for architecture, which he discovered during his university years, had to say:

“I work with wood, bronze, and marble, but my preferred material remains stone, particularly limestone, like in the Jerusalem area or the Cluj region, at Viștea. The latter has a unique plasticity, being easy to work with and suitable for both decorative works and figurative sculpture. Viștea stone allows me to approach a certain aesthetic, closely aligned with my inner vision, and I believe that using this material to create the SHARE Architecture Awards was a fortunate choice.”

Vladlen Babcinețchi studied in Iasi and complete a master programme at the National University of Arts George Enescu in Iași. He studied for his doctorate at ‘GH ASACHI’ University and following this he received an internship in Riga, Latvia and finally a Postdoctoral fellowship at Akaki Tsereteli University in Kutaisi, Georgia.

As sculptor, he experiments with new techniques and his own language of creation, which he has exhibited to the public in Chișinau, Iași and Lisbon. He is a UAP Member of the Republic of Moldova and of the UAP Romania, and creator of several public works housed at institutions in Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Russia.
