Project overview

Rising from a dense and visually fragmented urban fabric, the hotel establishes a calm and coherent architectural presence through its restrained monolithic form. Public functions occupy the reception and rooftop levels, with guest rooms between. Its precast facade filters unwanted views and frames daylight, while exposed concrete, integrated lighting and the golden rooftop volume give the building a distinctive identity and bring a sense of order to its complex urban setting.

Project history

Conceived against the backdrop of an accelerating tourism industry, where the development potential of every parcel of land is increasingly pushed to its limits, the project seeks to offer more than a response to commercial demand. Within an architecturally exhausted neighbourhood, whose social fabric is showing signs of decline, the design team endeavoured to create a building capable of acting as an urban catalyst—one that introduces a renewed architectural identity, stimulates activity and contributes meaningfully to the wider regeneration of its context.
