Project overview

The project aims to integrate marginalized populations by rehabilitating Camin No. 2 and demolishing Camin No. 1. The 90 dilapidated units are reconfigured into 50 modern apartments featuring dedicated kitchens, bathrooms, and private balconies. The updated housing mix now offers 12 studios, 28 two-room apartments, and 10 three-room units, providing diverse and dignified living standards for the community. Exterior works include creating green spaces, playgrounds, and parking.

Project history

Built in 1970, the dormitories suffered extreme degradation, featuring severely damaged finishes and 80% destroyed installations. The client approved the project’s framework in early 2019. The primary intention is to establish conditions for integrating marginalized populations and increasing social cohesion in the Mociur neighborhood. Structural integrity was a priority, involving extensive basement sanitization and foundation reinforcement to elevate the building’s seismic resilience. The project impacts the community by replacing hazardous buildings with 50 modernized, safe apartments and revitalizing a 3,559.1 sqm exterior area. The addition of a new public plaza, playgrounds, and green spaces will drastically improve the local standard of living and urban aesthetic.
