The Roman Catholic Parish of Lazarea initiated the project with the aim of restoring its 1867 parish house while providing a functional building for contemporary community use. Although the building was not officially listed as a historic monument, both the client and the design team recognized its architectural and cultural value. The project adopted a conservation-led approach, treating the building as protected heritage by removing inappropriate later additions, restoring original architectural elements, and preserving as much historic fabric as possible. Traditional materials and skilled craftsmanship guided every intervention, including the restoration of ornamental wall paintings and original joinery. Completed in 2024, the project has returned the parish house to its authentic appearance, strengthened local identity, and demonstrated that careful restoration can preserve cultural heritage while meeting present-day needs.
