Project overview

Ovacık House sits on a sloped site amid olive trees by the Aegean coast. The design shapes the terrain with four terraced garden levels. A vertical circulation core divides living and sleeping areas. The façade features recycled local stone, inspired by Greek masonry. Zinc roofs and aluminum details unify materiality. The house offers a sustainable, contemporary lifestyle integrated with nature.

Project history

Ovacık House was designed by architect Burak Pekoglu in memory of his father, Captain Pilot Metin Pekoglu, who passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The project was completed in 2022. Each autumn, the family harvests olives from fifty trees on the site and produces natural olive oil, shared with relatives and friends. This ritual strengthens the bond between the family and the local community, fostering a sense of heritage, continuity, and shared experience.
