Built in 1935 as Henry Ford’s Romanian assembly plant, Ford Hall became a landmark of industrial modernism before decades of alterations obscured its original character. The project began in late 2020 as part of the One Floreasca City development, with the objective of adapting the protected industrial monument into a mixed-use destination while preserving its architectural identity. Design focused on recovering the clarity of the original hall by restoring its defining façades and skylight, removing later interventions, and integrating offices, retail, restaurants and a theatre. The greatest challenge lay in reconciling heritage conservation with complex structural engineering, requiring a new seismic-resistant structure. Construction began in 2023 and is scheduled for completion in 2026. One Gallery reconnects Bucharest with an important chapter of its industrial heritage, creating a contemporary public destination that brings together history, culture and everyday urban life.
