The New Tashkent Concept Masterplan established the strategic vision and spatial framework for a new city east of Uzbekistan’s capital. Planned for two million people across 20,000 hectares, Cross Works led the project from early visioning through concept masterplanning, defining the urban structure, district hierarchy, infrastructure, landscape and movement networks. The plan provides a resilient, connected framework for long-term growth, investment and future development.

Project history

Following its competition win in 2023, Cross Works led the development of the New Tashkent Masterplan from Pre-Concept and Concept through to the Detailed Masterplan, Urban Design Guidelines and Architectural Guidelines. The project has established Cross Works as a leading voice in new-city masterplanning, particularly across Central Asia, demonstrating an integrated approach to planning, urban design, infrastructure and long-term growth. New Tashkent has also gained significant international recognition, helping to showcase Uzbekistan’s ambitious urban development programme and wider economic transformation to a global audience.
