Project overview

Commissioned by the City of Jihlava, the Multipurpose Urban Arena is a civic hub integrating sport, culture, and everyday life within the historic city centre. Designed as the new home of HC Dukla Jihlava, it accommodates up to 7,400 spectators through flexible seating for sports, concerts, and events. The project unites four interconnected buildings with accessible public spaces, innovative architecture, and sustainable design.
Investment: €80 million.

Project history
The Multipurpose Urban Arena originated from the City of Jihlava’s ambition to replace its ageing ice stadium with a contemporary venue that would also strengthen the city’s cultural and civic life. Following an international design competition in 2019, the project was developed as an integrated urban campus combining sport, culture, and public space. Completed in 2025, it provides a new home for HC Dukla Jihlava while accommodating concerts, exhibitions, trade fairs, and community events. By embedding the complex within the historic city centre, the project reconnects surrounding neighbourhoods, improves accessibility, activates public space, and supports economic, cultural, and social development, creating a lasting civic landmark for the city.
