A private client commissioned MA Residence for a steeply sloping plot on Vodno hill, above Skopje, with the brief to fit three apartments onto the site without losing its views or its connection to the hillside. The building steps down the slope in a stacked section, each level set back and wrapped in a continuous, rounded white balcony band that reads as a single sculpted ribbon from the street. Natural travertine cladding gives the upper volumes warmth against the sky, while a dry-stone base ties the lowest level, dug into the hill, back to the site’s natural material. Planted balcony edges, left to trail and flower over the white concrete, blur the line between architecture and landscape. Inside, full-height glazing keeps each apartment oriented toward the view. For its owner, the result is a small, quiet building whose curved geometry and material honesty stand apart from the flat-fronted blocks common on Vodno’s slopes.
