Project overview

A neglected 1960s industrial hall, once defined by its bold wave-like roof, was transformed into a dynamic workspace. Respecting its original character, we stripped back unsympathetic additions and inserted a contrasting office block, centered around a greenhouse-like atrium. The design fosters openness, collaboration, and identity, blending old and new. Custom interior solutions reflect the client’s infrastructure roots. The result: a cost-efficient, future-ready office landmark.

Project history

Originally built in the 1960s from low-quality materials due to post-war shortages, the industrial hall stood out thanks to its bold wave-like roof. Over time, however, ill-conceived additions and neglect diminished its architectural value. When our client found the building, it had lost its identity. Rather than a simple renovation, we envisioned a resurrection. From the client’s perspective, the project was an opportunity to reclaim a forgotten landmark and create a high-performance, future-ready workspace. We removed unsympathetic 1980s elements and revealed the powerful industrial shell. A new, contrasting office block was inserted, respecting the past while addressing present needs. At its heart lies a greenhouse-like atrium that reactivates the original roof’s drama. This transformation has revitalized not only the building but also the surrounding community, inspiring renewed interest in adaptive reuse and architectural preservation.
