Initiated in 2024, the project began with a transformative policy: restricting weekend vehicular access to Hrazdan Gorge to reclaim the space for pedestrians. Recognizing the site’s 2.5km developmental potential, the client sought to reverse ecological degradation and create a contemporary, accessible recreational hub without compromising the natural landscape. The masterplan was structured in three phases, with Phase 1 focusing on the 1,450-sqm primary sports and leisure sector as the catalyst for sustainable growth.
From the outset, the client prioritized minimal environmental intervention and maximum social equity. The impact has been profound. For the client, it realized the vision of a highly cost-effective, eco-friendly urban retreat. For the community, the new barrier-free paths, adaptive-reuse container pavilion, and wellness zones have mitigated pollution, fostered healthy lifestyles, and established a safe, inclusive haven that strengthens social cohesion in Yerevan.
