Project overview

House 3.RB.7 is situated in a closed residential complex in the suburbs of Sofia, Bulgaria. The project aimed to create a highly functional home for a six-member family by applying resource-efficient practices within a contemporary design. With a total budget of 670,000 BGN, the renovation included layout reconfiguration, new heat pump HVAC with heat recovery, underfloor heating, outdoor extension, custom furniture and finishes – resulting into a cohesive, modern and adaptable interior.

Project history

Initiated in early 2023, the project began with a detailed architectural analysis and redesign of the existing layout to meet the changing needs of the family. The layout was reorganized to enhance privacy and autonomy: a large open-plan room on the top floor was converted into two bedrooms and an additional bathroom, while the first floor was reconfigured into three bedrooms, each with an en-suite. The basement was transformed into a multifunctional area featuring a gym, home cinema, wine cellar, laundry and technical rooms. A new HVAC system with heat pump and heat recovery ventilation was installed to improve indoor climate and energy performance while durable and environmentally responsible materials were used throughout. All bathrooms feature water-saving fixtures, and motion sensors were installed in corridors and staircases to optimize energy use. The result is a functional and comfortable home that supports the family’s everyday life.
