Project overview

The Hotič Educational Complex unites a primary school, a kindergarten, a multipurpose hall, and local community facilities into a new social center for the village of Hotič. The project is based on the understanding of the school as the central social space of the community—not merely as an educational institution, but as a place for gathering, strengthening local identity, and fostering daily community life for all generations.

Project history

The project began in 2018, when the Municipality of Litija invited GEOPLAN to a limited architectural competition based on the studio’s successful reference project, the Vrhpolje Branch Primary School. Our proposal was selected for its clear response to the educational, social, and spatial needs of the village. Planning permission was obtained in 2021, while construction commenced in 2023 after funding had been secured. The building and its interior fit-out were completed in 2025, and the school officially opened in early 2026. GEOPLAN was involved throughout the entire process—from the initial concept and planning permission to detailed design, interior design, and wayfinding. Today, the project serves as the educational and social heart of Hotič, strengthening community life and creating a lasting public asset for future generations.
