Project overview

The renovation was carried out with deep respect for its historic character, resulting in a thoughtfully reimagined home tailored for contemporary family living. Natural and recyclable materials such as stone wool insulation and locally produced clay roof tiles were chosen to minimize environmental impact and support national craftsmanship. The renovation has resulted in a substantial improvement in the building's thermal performance.

Project history
A respectful architectural and energy renovation of a 1940s Alpine house, blending cultural heritage with modern living. The house is characterized by a distinctive stone semi-basement that curves into a south-facing terrace, topped by a two-story wooden structure with a gabled roof, ornamental details, and green-painted shutters. The renovation was carried out with deep respect for its historic character, resulting in a thoughtfully reimagined home tailored for contemporary family living. It preserves the essence of Alpine vernacular architecture while delivering broad environmental and cultural benefits. The restoration of interior fittings and original built-in elements was carried out in collaboration with local artisans, using traditional joinery methods and reclaimed timber, thereby ensuring the retention of heritage features with minimal embodied carbon impact.
