Project overview

The project converts former residential studios into offices and multifunctional spaces for NGOs and community activities (social, cultural). Design focuses on restoring the building's tectonic characteristics by keeping interior brickwork exposed and modernizing the facade with insulation, dynamic plaster textures, and updated dormers.

Project history

Historically a girls’ dormitory, the building later housed commercial spaces and social housing. This rehabilitation project emerged from the Local Development Strategy of Reșița Municipality to reduce poverty and social exclusion in marginalized urban areas. Funded via the Regional Operational Program 2014-2020, the client’s goal is to improve the quality of life, boost economic growth, and foster social cohesion. It impacts the community by providing dedicated spaces for NGOs, startups, and community groups. The project creates modern offices, workshop spaces, and an amphitheater for non-formal education, continuing the legacy of youth support provided by the Mansarda Youth Center.
