The project was initiated as a major cultural development aimed at creating a new professional venue for ballet, theatre, and contemporary events in Almaty.
Timeline:
2020–2021 — concept development and definition of the functional program, including a transformable 700-seat hall, advanced stage technologies, public areas, and educational spaces.
2021–2022 — design development and construction, with a focus on integrating the building into the foothill landscape and surrounding public park.
2022 — completion and opening of the theatre.
The client’s goal was to create more than a performance venue: a cultural cluster combining art, education, hospitality, and public life. The project introduced a new multifunctional theatre format for Kazakhstan and created an accessible urban space with a park, choreography school, cafés, and event facilities. It has strengthened Almaty’s cultural infrastructure and become a new point of attraction for residents, artists, and visitors.
