Project overview
To many of us, residential neighbourhoods are the setting of the most playful times in our youth. However, for a neighbourhood to become such a setting, it requires an appropriate combination of public, semi-public and personal areas. Furthermore, it has to make it possible for various generations and profiles of people to enjoy living there. The feel of an integrated multi-layered town has been instilled into the neighbourhood as its central theme. The building volumes are of understated design, setting the frameworks for the varied green atria. Motorised traffic is limited to create the possibility of a quality green and safe environment surrounding the home. The interconnected atria are dedicated to various themes. During a walk through the neighbourhood, the buildings offer diverse views of the life unfolding between them and the surrounding natural sights. The overall effect is a picturesque one, owing to the intertwining of a discreet yet tactually and decoratively diverse façade and the ever-changing nature.
Project history
The design phase of the project Pod Pekrsko gorco started in 2018 and was finished in 2019. The construction phase started in 2020 and was finished in beginning of 2023.The main topic of designing affordable housing is the relation between cost and architectural, spatial aesthetic quality. These themes were the defining factor of client designer relationship as the priorities and goals were not always aligned. The National Housing Fund of Republic of Slovenia has strictly defined goals of creating quality affordable housing for a diverse scope of future inhabitants. The priorities are rational cost, quality and sustainability. As architects we are driven to also include aspects of broader environment and a goal to create sustainable and adaptable architecture for all users, permanent or periodical. The project successfully formed new programme in existing urban plan with all new clients demands and created a frame that offers pleasant co-existance of diverse programmes. This way the needs of all age and social groups are met.
