The project was launched in response to the rapid development of the city of Konaev following its designation as the administrative centre of the Almaty Region in 2022, and as part of the city’s master plan, which envisages the creation of a large university campus. My aim was to create an iconic university that would promote the development of education, culture and innovation and accommodate around 3,500 students. The design process began with an analysis of the site, climatic conditions and the urban context, following which a concept was developed, inspired by the ripples caused by a falling drop of water, symbolising the spread of knowledge and creativity. The project brings together academic, research, cultural and community functions within an environmentally sustainable, people-centred campus.
