Project overview

RE:SEA transforms the Seajets Ticket Agency at Rafina Port into a contemporary gateway to the Aegean. Discarded fishing nets and marine plastics recovered from the sea are reborn through large-scale 3D printing as a sculptural reception landscape. Blending computational design, circular material innovation and public architecture, RE:SEA demonstrates how waste can be reimagined as identity, experience and place.

Project history

RE:SEA began with Seajets’ vision to transform its Rafina Port ticket agency from a conventional transport office into an immersive gateway to the Aegean. Rather than creating a typical commercial interior, the brief called for a space that would reflect the company’s connection to the sea while improving the visitor experience. The design process explored how the Aegean could be represented through material rather than imagery. Working with discarded fishing nets and marine plastics collected from the Aegean, the project developed a large-scale 3D-printed reception landscape that demonstrates the potential of circular design and digital fabrication. RE:SEA has become both a functional ticket agency and a statement of Seajets’ environmental values. By transforming marine waste into architecture, the project raises awareness of circular material practices while offering travellers a distinctive first experience of the Aegean.
