Project overview

The Niš Cultural Center project aims to unify contemporary cultural content through a flexible program structure. It emphasizes the integration of urban landscape and architectural identity. The design includes multipurpose halls, open public areas, and exhibition spaces. Cost-efficiency and modularity guided the spatial planning, supporting both community use and long-term sustainability.

Project history

Initiated as a response to the lack of a modern cultural hub in Niš, the project began with a public competition aimed at redefining urban identity through culture. The client—City of Niš—sought a multifunctional, accessible space that would foster artistic expression and civic interaction. The winning concept, selected for its integration of landscape and built form, was developed through close collaboration with stakeholders. Since its inception, the project has reactivated a neglected urban area, offering a dynamic venue for exhibitions, performances, and community gatherings. It has significantly enhanced the city’s cultural infrastructure and public life, becoming a symbol of Niš’s cultural revival.
