Replacing an outdated facility, the project solved critical spatial shortages for primary care in Maribor. Our office won the open public architectural competition organized by ZAPS. It was co-financed by the Municipality of Maribor, ZD dr. Adolfa Drolca, Mariborske lekarne, and the Ministry of Health. Construction in a dense urban environment delivered a modern, highly accessible community anchor.
Designed with patient experience at its core, the building seamlessly links urban public space with healing environments. The public ground floor connects streets to a green platform, creating an inviting threshold. Upper levels organize general medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, and labs around an internal atrium, providing calm, daylit clinical spaces. The project significantly improves working conditions for staff and expands access to healthcare for over 9,000 residents, strengthening the social fabric and spatial quality of the Magdalena district and the broader city.
