The project originated from the client’s desire for a modest, rational home closely connected to the landscape of the Murska Sobota plain. From the outset, the brief rejected suburban conventions and representational architecture, favouring openness, flexibility and everyday use. Early discussions focused on reinterpreting the local modernist legacy—low, transparent structures integrated with greenery—within contemporary constraints.
Despite strict planning regulations, the design evolved into a clear spatial system organised around three concrete cores, enabling an open, adaptable layout. Construction emphasised local materials and craftsmanship, reinforcing the connection to place.
Since completion, the house has provided a calm living environment shaped by light and seasonal change. Within the community, it stands as a subtle yet critical example of an alternative residential approach, promoting spatial quality, material honesty and continuity with regional identity.
