Bahçe was initiated in response to a long-standing need of the Municipality of Kamenica to bring renewed national attention to the city while creating a meaningful public space for its community. From the beginning, the project was shaped around the needs of its citizens rather than a predefined program. A participatory workshop with Kamenica residents helped identify the community’s needs and aspirations, which became an important part of the design process.
The proposal transforms an underused urban landscape into an ecological park where nature, education, recreation, and community life come together. Botanical gardens, walking and cycling trails, playgrounds, educational spaces, event areas, and gathering spaces respond directly to local needs. Bahçe is envisioned as both a public park and a new destination for Kamenica, improving everyday life, reconnecting citizens with nature, and bringing wider attention to the municipality.
